All in all, Extreme Rules was an enjoyable show. There were a few bumps along the way but, at the end of the night, it succeeded in achieving its goal as being an entertaining follow-up to last month's WrestleMania 29. Here are my thoughts:

The Shield made the clean sweep at Extreme Rules and now have both the Tag Team and United States championships in their possession Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns turned out to be the ones who would finally de-throne Team Hell No, after their lengthy run with the tag gold. The Tornado stipulation really benefited the Shield's pack mentality and they were able to use it to their advantage and pick up the victory. Earlier in the night, Dean Ambrose defeated Kofi Kingston for the United States title in typical fashion. Poor Kofi, he's only the champion when WWE is deciding on which heel mid-carder to push next.

Unfortunately, Alberto Del Rio is the Number One Contender after he made Jack Swagger say “I Quit” at Extreme Rules. My buddies and I all agree, Del Rio is incredibly boring. The least they could have done was throw a swerve and had Swag win this match. Then, the two former tag team partners who were managed by Vickie Guerrero could face off, one on one. But no, that would be too “out of the box” for WWE. Regardless, Del Rio isn't going to de-throne Ziggler when he returns from injury because Dolph is amidst the biggest push of his career. Thank goodness.

I was afraid this was going to happen. It seemed too early for John Cena to lose the WWE championship, having just won it last month at WrestleMania. But it also seemed too risky for Ryback to lose immediately after his big heel turn. To avoid either of these negatives, WWE went with the No Contest finish when John Cena faced Ryback in a Last Man Standing match for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules. Ryback was made to look strong as he was the one who rammed Cena through the stage, causing the No Contest because both men were unable to compete. What's the point of having an “extreme” rule, if the match can be stopped because it is too “extreme”? John Cena held onto the belt by default here but I expect that this feud will continue at WWE's next pay per view, which is appropriately named Payback.

If you read my Extreme Rules prediction article, then you knew I didn't like Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar 3 being inside a steel cage, rather than Hell in a Cell. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the way this match turned out. Lesnar and Triple H went back and forth, exchanging dominating beat-downs on each other until Paul Heyman got involved. Paul delivered a cheap low-blow to the Game, which allowed Lesnar to grab the sledgehammer, introduced by Triple H earlier in the match. Lesnar hit Triple H with his own signature weapon and delivered the second F5 of the match for the 3 count. This is the finish that needed to happen in order for Brock Lesnar to remain a threat to anyone who stands in his way in the future. Particularly the Rock, as the two are rumored to meet at this year's SummerSlam.

What did you think of Extreme Rules? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to The LAW’s coverage of WWE Extreme Rules from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

The pre-show was frozen on YouTube mid-way through but the WWE.com stream was working.

They had a panel just as they did for WrestleMania with Renee Young, Wade Barrett, Titus O’Neil and Mick Foley on the desk.

Cody Rhodes vs. The Miz

Rhodes attempts a body scissors on Miz that he blocks and fights back to his feet.

Rhodes was going for Cross Rhodes but Miz countered. Rhodes came off the second turnbuckle and missed Miz and he applied the figure-four for the win.

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango

Summer Rae’s dress is the most revealing outfit any of the women have worn in years.

Jericho spun forward and caused Fandango to lose his balance in an awkward exchange.

Jericho comes back with a series of shoulder blocks and chop off the top before hitting a running bulldog and goes for the Walls of Jericho but cannot lock it in and hits a high cross but Fandango reverses it for a two-count.

Fandango climbs to the top and misses the guillotine leg drop and Jericho with the quebrada for a near fall as the crowd pops. Crowd explodes when Jericho applies the Walls but Fandango reaches the ropes.

Fandango climbed to the top and leaped off and was hit with a code breaker in mid-air as Jericho pins him at 8:37.

Josh Mathews is in the back with Sheamus. He does a quick promo on Mark Henry and is vowing to go extreme tonight.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dean Ambrose for the U.S. Title

They go back and forth with constantly countering and Kingston then hits a monkey flip in mid-ring. Ambrose gets the advantage following a lariat.

JBL noted that Harley Race is attending the show tonight.

Ambrose applies a cross face chicken wing but Kingston gets to his feet and runs Ambrose head first into the corner.

Kingston jumps off the second turnbuckle and was planning to clear Ambrose but his leg got hooked on Ambrose but recovered and hit the S.O.S. Ambrose gets Kingston to the top for a superplex but that is blocked but hit it on his second try.

Ambrose is on the outside of the apron and takes the Trouble in Paradise and goes to the floor but Kingston brings him back in for the cover but Ambrose grabs the bottom rope. Kingston goes for another Trouble in Paradise but misses and flies into the ropes and hits his finish, which is a DDT from a headlock position for the win at 6:48.

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins come in and hoist Ambrose in the air with the title.

Mark Henry vs. Sheamus in a Strap Match

They have lights to signify when a corner is touched.

Sheamus immediately pulls the strap and knocks Henry off of his feet and then attacks the left leg of Henry. Henry then comes back and ties up the legs of Sheamus starts touching the turnbuckles before Sheamuss stops him.

Sheamus lifts the strap into the groin of Henry and both go down and Sheamus then starts whipping Henry with the strap. He then touches three turnbuckles but Henry lifts and slams him to stop the count.

Sheamus touches three again as Henry stands in his way and runs into Henry, who attempts for the world’s strongest slam but Sheamus avoids and hits the brogue kick and the fourth turnbuckle for the win at 7:59.

AJ is in the back apparently on the phone with Dolph Ziggler as Kaitlyn walks up to her and she spoke with Vickie Guerrero, Kaitlyn calls Ziggler the adult coppertone baby and then calls AJ “Loony Tunes” and then AJ calls her a “pig” and Kaitlyn attacks her. They didn’t make it clear if they were having a match later tonight.

Zeb Colter comes out and cuts a promo on the U.S. Government scandal involving the I.R.S. auditing tea party groups and the AP wire tapping stories before jumping on the St. Louis Cardinals and should be called the Caribbean Cardinals. The latter drew the heat and the former was met with no interest.

Lilian Garcia introduces Del Rio in Spanish.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger in an I Quit Match

Swagger attacks Del Rio with a kendo stick on the floor early in the match as Del Rio is asked twice if he quits and says “no”.

Del Rio gets tied up in the ropes and swagger beats his chest with the kendo stick repeatedly as Del Rio will not give up.

Swagger gets seated on the ropes and this time Del Rio attacks him with the kendo stick repeatedly. Swagger blocks an arm bar attempt and lifts and slams Del Rio, hits a Swagger bomb out of the corner and a gut wrench powerbomb but Del Rio continues. Del Rio grabs an armbar but Swagger gets out and applies the ankle lock as Ricardo grabs the towel and gets ready to throw it in, Colter knocks Ricardo down and tosses the towel in as the referee is not looking and calls for the finish at 10:30.

Another official comes in and explains that Ricardo did not throw the towel in. They pull up a television monitor and Mike Chioda orders the match to re-start.

Swagger goes after the leg but Del Rio applies the armbar, Swagger tries to get out but Del Rio re-applies it and Swagger quits at 0:49.

Josh Mathews holds a microphone as Ryback reads out a promo.

Team Hell No vs. Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins for the Tag Titles in a Tornado Match

JBL notes May 19th is not the best date for Kane in reference to See No Evil and that angle in 2006.

Reigns goes to powerbomb Bryan from the top but he reverses with a hurricanrana and then Kane sends both Shield members to the floor and Bryan hits a suicide dive to both.

Bryan goes for the No Lock onto Reigns but Rollins breaks it and then takes a choke slam before Reigns spears Kane and everyone is out.

Reigns spears Kane for a second time but Bryan makes the save to a big reaction and then kicks Reigns repeatedly in the chest. Bryan gets slingshot into the knees of Rollins and Reigns hoists him on his shoulders and Rollins with a flying knee of the top rope and Reigns pins Bryan at 7:24.

Dean Ambrose joins them in the ring and they pose with their titles.

They throw to the panel with Renee Young, Titus O’Neil, Wade Barrett and Mick Foley.

Randy Orton vs. Big Show in an Extreme Rules match

Orton gets a big reaction being in his hometown.

Orton grabs the weapon of the night – the kendo stick and attacks Show with the weapon on the floor.

Show comes back with a series of chops and then a ladder in brought into the match.

Show has a ladder set up on two chairs in the ring and sets Orton on the ladder and goes for the Vader bomb as Orton moves and Show goes through the ladder. Orton hits draping DDT off the top rope and then hits the RKO but Show kicks out at two.

Orton attacks Show with chair shots on the floor on the back and then to the chest inside of the ring nut Show comes back and spears Orton. Orton recovers and they fight with Orton hitting another RKO onto the chair. Orton backs up and hits the punt kick and pins Show at 12:58.

John Cena vs. Ryback in a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title

Goldberg chants begin right away. Ryback is constantly dropping Cena as he struggles back to his feet and then Ryback puts him back down.

Ryback runs at Cena, who ducks and Ryback goes over the top to the floor.

A table is set up in the corner and Ryback sends Cena through it with a fall away slam but Cena gets up at the count of eight and fights back with a slam and five knuckle shuffle. Ryback goes for a powerbomb but Cena blocks and hits his own powerbomb to Ryback.

Cena gets the STF and the referee begins to count as Cena grabs a table and places it in the ring. Ryback stops Cena and goes for the shell shock but Cena blocks and hits the AA to Ryback through the table but both beat the count.

Cena climbs to the top and Ryback grabs him and hits the shell shock and Cena makes it to his feet before the count of ten. Cena kicks a chair at Ryback and then spears Ryback through the barricade on the floor and then they start fighting in the crowd. Ryback grabs a part of a door for the penalty box and hits Cena with it but Cena comes back with a sleeper hold.

The two continue fighting in the crowd and Ryback is placed on a table as Cena climbs up and jumps off and puts Ryback through the table. Cena uses a fire extinguisher on Ryback as they go onto the stage at the entrance and Ryback’s singlet is all white and then gets hit with the actual extinguisher twice and Ryback gets up at eight. Cena then goes for an AA but Ryback blocks and then runs both of them through the staging where an explosion goes off.

They cut to both of them out cold in the back and crowd is booing. Ryback is helped up as Cena is taken out on a stretcher.

A video for the main event airs and they promote the fact there is a new steel cage structure for the match.

Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H in a Steel Cage Match

Hunetr runs down and attacks both Lesnar and Heyman and then sends Lesnar into the cage and the match begins.

Lesnar is selling his left knee right after he tosses Hunter off the top turnbuckle. Lesnar attempts to leave a few minutes later as Hunter clips the knee but Heyman shuts the door and allows Lesnar to hit the F-5 to Hunter for a two-count.

Heyman shoves Charles Robinson away and passes a chair to Lesnar and he attacks Hunter with it. Lesnar tries again for the F-5 but his knee gives out and Lesnar is yelling in pain. Hunter attacks Lesnar’s knee with the chair and then runs him into the corner and Lesnar tries for a kimura but Hunter breaks it.

Hunter applies the figure-four and Lesnar eventually reverses it. Lesnar gets out and starts climbing but Hunter stops him with a chair shot to the knee and he falls to the mat. Hunter smiles and there is a hidden sledgehammer at the top of the cage but Lesnar stops him.

Lesnar goes to attack with the sledgehammer but Hunter stops him and applies the sharpshooter. Heyman runs in and gets knocked out and then Hunter with a pedigree but Lesnar kicks out at two.

Hunter gets the sledgehammer but Heyman hits him with a low blow from behind. Lesnar gets the sledgehammer and knocks out Hunter with it. Lesnar pulls him up and hits him with another F-5 and pins Hunter at 20:09.

For the Review-A-Wai episode covering the movie and chatting with screenwriter Dan Madigan (and the legendary story of Vince McMahon’s idea of giving Kane’s character a 20-foot penis) you can download the show at http://fightnetwork.com/data/podcasts/1123/2012-05-16.mp3.

**Here are the results from the ROH last night in Richmond, Virginia:
*Michael Elgin over Kyle Matthews
*Adam Cole over Adam Page
*Mark Briscoe over Roderick Strong
*Tomasso Ciampa over Chris LaRusso
*Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards over Rhett Titus & Cliff Compton
*Jeff Early & Zak Hilton over Aden Chamber & Brandon Day
*Jay Lethal & Cedric Alexander & Caprice Coleman over Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish & Matt Taven
*Kevin Steen over Jimmy Jacobs in a No DQ match
*Jay Briscoe over B.J. Whitmer to keep the ROH Title

**It was on this date in 2002 that the WWE presented Judgment Day featuring Hulk Hogan dropping the WWE Title for the final time to The Undertaker in the main event along with Triple H defeating Chris Jericho in a Hell in a Cell (which is the match that pretty well ended the career of referee Tim White after a nasty shoulder injury he suffered during the match) as well as Edge winning a Hair vs. Hair match over Kurt Angle.

PAY-PER-VIEW REWIND
WWE Extreme Rules
Sunday April 29th 2013
Chicago, Illinois
*Randy Orton over Kane in a Falls Count Anywhere match
*Brodus Clay over Dolph Ziggler
*Cody Rhodes over Big Show to win the Intercontinental Title in a Tables Match
*Sheamus over Daniel Bryan in a 2/3 Falls Match to keep the World Title
*Ryback over Jay Hatton & Aaron Relic
*CM Punk over Chris Jericho in a Street Fight to keep the WWE Title
*Layla over Nikki Bella to win the Diva’s Title
*John Cena over Brock Lesnar

**Tatame out of Brazil was the first to report that Renan Barao could be off of the June 15th UFC 161 card in Winnipeg after suffering a foot injury. The UFC has since spoken to Dave Meltzer at MMAFighting.com that it is likely he is off the card with no word on what changes could be made to the card.
On this week's edition of NXT Big E. Langston defends the NXT Title against Damien Sandow the announcement of Sami Zayn's in-ring debut.

For some reason our announcers are Tom Phillips and Brad Maddox. Ugh.

[Match #1]: Natalya vs. Summer Rae

They trade holds at the start with plenty of reversals, working through series of side headlocks, headscissors and armbars. This was actually quite smooth. Natalya goes for the Sharpshooter but can’t get it. She scores with a boot and a clothesline for a near fall. Rae comes back with a bicycle kick and they go through a break with Rae working over Natalya’s arm. Rae does the Stacy Keibler foot choke in the corner and hits a DDT, rolls through and applies another choke. Paige comes down to the ring as Natalya again goes for the Sharpshooter but Rae kicks her off into Paige and gets the Schoolgirl rollup for the win.

Winner [via pinfall]: Summer Rae (5:46)

Renee Young is in the back with Sami Zayn, aka El Generico, who will debut on NXT next week against Curt Hawkins. He says he’s not nervous and that next week will be the start of something beautiful between him and the WWE Universe.

[Match #2]: Bray Wyatt vs. Danny Burch

Wyatt comes to the ring wearing a mask and calls himself ‘the new face of fear’ and says he no longer wants to be seen as a man, but as a monster. He’s also wearing a Leatherface-esque butcher’s apron. He says Chris Jericho shook him during their match a few weeks back.

Burch opens with headbutts and punches but Wyatt quickly squashes him. He hits a running crossbody drags Burch to the corner, hits a big running splash, the dancing spot and then the Paydirt, referred to as the Sister Abigail, for the win.

Winner [via pinfall]: Bray Wyatt (2:04)

Adrian Neville and Bo Dallas are in the back, and Dallas asks if he’s still mad they lost the tag belts last week. Neville says he’s been better, then Dallas proceeds to explain to him who John Cena is and talks about the Royal Rumble. Neville responds, ‘Bo, I know who John Cena is.’ They talk about the #1 contender’s battle royal coming up. This segment screams heel turn for Dallas, which couldn’t hurt. The guy can’t cut a promo regardless, so why not try him as a heel, plus it’ll give Neville someone to feud with.

[Match #3]: Conor O’Brian vs. Briley Pierce & Sakamoto

O’Brian starts against the recently fired Sakamoto, and drops him on his face from a double chicken wing before Pierce, also recently fired, is tagged in. Pierce is leveled with a boot and a pair of running shoulder tackles. Pierce tags after taking a vertical suplex and both men try attacking O’Brian but no avail. O’Brian stacks both men in the corner and hits a splash then hits a cool looking double flapjack and pins both men.

Winner [via pinfall]: Conor O’Brian (2:38)

Some guy comes out on the stage and O’Brian stares him down.

Todd Phillips is talking to Corey Graves. He says he’s entered the battle royal as Bray Wyatt comes in. Wyatt says that just like Kassius Ohno found out last week, Graves will realize that NXT belongs to the Wyatt family. Graves says that Wyatt doesn’t know who he is messing with.

[Main Event]: NXT Title Match: Big E. Langston vs. Damien Sandow

Big E. comes down to his new music that he’s been using on the main roster.

Slow start with Sandow avoiding some power moves and bailing to the floor. Langston hits a delayed vertical suplex and Irish whips Sandow into the corner but misses a splash. Sandow follows with a clothesline to the back and a rear chinlock. Langston backs him into the corner and hits a running shoulder block and hits the ropes for his running tackle but Sandow catches him with a dropkick. Sandow lands a double axehandle off the top and a pair of kneedrops for a near fall. He follows with a dropkick to the knee and kneelifts but Langston fights back with a belly-to-belly suplex.

Back on his feet, Langston hits a series of clotheslines and five kneelifts, the running tackle and then goes for the Big Ending but Sandow reverse and drops Langston with an inverted X-Factor. He hits a side Russian leg sweep and rolls through, misses the Elbow of Disdain, but comes back and hits it finally after a swinging neckbreaker. He goes for the Terminus but Big E. pushes him off and hits the Big Ending for the win.

Winner [via pinfall]: Big E. Langston (10:29)

Langston scoops Sandow up for another Big Ending and gets the five count after the match.

Final Thoughts

This was a great episode – I very much enjoyed it. I actually really liked the Divas match (and no I’m pretty sure hell didn’t freeze over). Right now it looks like Summer and Paige are the company’s two top diva talents as weird as that sounds. The promos on this show were excellent – from El Generico aka Sami Zayn to the Bo Dallas-Adrian Neville promo and of course, Bray Wyatt and Corey Graves. I enjoy that they are putting more of a focus on Wyatt because he’s clearly the top heel in NXT and clearly the next guy ready to be promoted. The main event was surprisingly good as well and to be honest it wasn’t a chore to watch Big E. sell.

I CANNOT wait for El Generico next week.

Next Week

- Sami Zayn vs. Curt Hawkins

- Bray Wyatt vs. Corey Graves

In Two Weeks

- NXT Title #1 Contender’s Battle Royal

The LAW previews Sunday night's Extreme Rules pay-per-view from St. Louis featuring Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H and John Cena vs. Ryback.

This Sunday night the WWE returns to pay-per-view with a six-week break since WrestleMania last month. The show will take place from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri featuring the third (and we should assume final) match between Triple H and Brock Lesnar. The LAW previews the full card and then tune in Sunday night at 11pm EST right after the pay-per-view for a rundown of the show.

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar in a steel cage match

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I so don't care about this match and the TV this week certainly didn't help. I thought it was stupid for them to touch, and even though it was done for Trips to look strong going into the match since it looks like he finally is going to do the job, I hated seeing Brock look so weak by falling out of the cage and being run off. I know I sound like a broken record, but Brock should just destroy Trips, who does a stretcher job, and that's that.

Jason Agnew
Gotta be Brock.

John Pollock
This match feels like the final drop being wringed out of a towel with the hope that there are enough drops left for a healthy number of buys on pay-per-view. Hunter said that if he wins this match on Sunday “the mystique” of Brock Lesnar would be gone, which rang exceptionally true and I would argue some of that “mystique” was lost a year ago at this same event when he lost to John Cena. Lensar is still an attraction and with the right opponent he will do good business but I wholeheartedly believe they have compromised the commodity they had when they signed his deal. Neither match between Lesnar and Hunter has been overtly memorable with the live crowd sitting on their hands for both matches with the added handicap of a steel cage in this one that theoretically restricts them. Lesnar should win this match and the next step for Lesnar should be as either a heel tandem with CM Punk or Punk returns as a babyface to feud with Lesnar.

John Cena vs. Ryback in a Last Man Standing match for the WWE Title

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
This stip really only leaves two finishes, either Cena retaining, or Ryback winning. This leads me to believe that they might actually put the title on Ryback for a bit as you have an out with Cena being injured and not able to answer the ten count. The only thing is Cena just won the title back at Mania.

But I really can't see them having Cena beat Ryback in a match like this so early in Ryback's run since you really have to destroy a guy to make him not answer a ten count, and that's just not a good thing for Ryback right now. So I'm going with Ryback winning the title.

Jason Agnew
Cena keeps the title but I suspect its controversial with the finish

John Pollock
I had a lot more interest in this match when it was first made as it is a fresh match an regardless of your opinion on Ryback, he was someone the audience took to as “somebody” through his booking over the past year and in the right situation with CM Punk at Hell in a Cell, could draw in a top position. The heel turn has been very “clunky” as it has shined a light on some of Ryback’s deficiencies such as promo work and selling for the babyface. There is no obvious next program for Cena and suggests that this feud gets at least one more pay-per-view but Cena winning a Last Man Standing match leaves little reason or interest for a prolonged program nor do I feel taking the title off of Cena so fast would do be the right decision. If the plan is for these two to go 20-minutes I can understand the stipulation to allow for a lot of shortcuts and play to Ryback’s strengths but would not take the title off of Cena. It will also be interesting to see if this match or the cage match goes on last.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger in an I Quit Match

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I would expect that Alberto Del Rio gets the win here as it would make no sense for Swagger to challenge Ziggler for the title as they are both heels, and it makes perfect sense for a slimy heel like Swagger to say I quit.

Jason Agnew
This is going to be awful. Del Rio gets the win.

John Pollock
I was glad to see the WWE take the extra precaution and allow Dolph Ziggler to sit this one out as putting him in a ladder match 12-days after suffering a concussion would have been an unnecessary risk. Both guys have submission finishes that the audience is educated to and could work out a good match if the crowd is with them. Swagger feels like a character on the descent and will settle into a mid-card position after this match with Del Rio getting the win and challenging Ziggler once he is cleared.

Sheamus vs. Mark Henry in a strap match

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
Watching RAW this week was hilarious as we saw a recap that showed us the evil Mark Henry whipping Sheamus, followed by a recap showing the inspirational and history making Mark Henry pulling mack trucks, only to have the segment finish with Henry back as a heel whipping Sheamus. Despite all these inconsistencies, it probably doesn't matter in the end, as Sheamus will get the win since he's higher on the card, but you can bet that that pasty white skin is going to be beat red by the end just to give those of you on the WWE app something extra to marvel over.

Jason Agnew
I'd really like to see Henry win and the crowd cheer here... but alas, Sheamus is probably going over.

John Pollock
One of the best characters in the WWE right now is Mark Henry, who has a charm with a segment of the audience and is right on the cusp of being turned by the audience. Sheamus on the other hand just feels very flat with the lack of dimensions that so many WWE characters fall victim to where the crowd doesn’t know anything about this character that gives them an emotional attachment to root for. He is a guy that smiles, is tough and likes to fight and it ends there and so does my interest. I feel the babyface turn is coming for Henry and he loses this match but does so in valiant fashion and has the big post match congratulatory pop from the audience for the war he has been through with Sheamus.

Daniel Bryan & Kane vs. Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns for the tag titles

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
It's imperative that the Shield be kept strong here, so maybe this is where we finally start to get the tease of dissension with Kane and Bryan, and they lose the titles here and begin their feud. That works all around since now you have the Shield as champs which adds a new dimension to their storyline. Shield gets the gold.

Jason Agnew
Its modern Freebirds time. The Shield gets the win here.

John Pollock
One of the backdrops to this show is the idea that The Shield come leave the pay-per-view with both the tag and U.S. titles in their possession. It feels like it is time for Bryan and Kane to drop the titles and being placed on The Shield would elevate those titles with a group that is going to be protected. They have also booked their way “out” where Bryan and Kane could win and still selling The Shield as “undefeated as a unit” (providing you don’t feel a DQ loss in an elimination match should count). I would prefer freshening things up and flipping the titles onto Rollins and Reigns and could with the Freebird rule that has been thrown out numerous times as an idea.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dean Ambrose for the U.S. Title

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
Well, we know the Shield guys need to be kept strong, so this is really just a glorified jobber match, and I see Kofi flying straight into a three count and back to Main Event with Antonio Cesaro.

Jason Agnew
I'm betting The Shield will be made of gold by the end of this night. Ambrose gets the win here... and hopefully that doesn't mean he goes on an immense losing streak.

John Pollock
This might be the match that has my most interest on the show as they could steal the show if given 12-14 minutes and have a good crowd on Sunday night. It’s certainly an idea to put both sets of titles onto The Shield but there also appears to be a renewed interest in Kingston following his Main Event match with Antonio Cesaro. Kingston could win this match and with The Shield getting the tag titles they effectively all have titles anyway with any two of the three able to defend them. I don’t really have a feeling one way or another over who should win this one but I’m hoping they are given some time as this could be a great match.

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
This is the only match I'm really interested in because I thought the set up on RAW this week was great, and I loved how the dance off was used to actually lead you back to the match and get heat on Fandango. Add Jericho's simple promo later in RAW, and I'm there. The only thing about it is that it's all set for the babyface to go over, and that's Jericho, and I'm not sure they want to put him over Fandango right now, so I could see Fandango getting the win but the feud continuing.

Jason Agnew
Looking forward to this, I enjoyed the lack of dance contest on Raw. I expect Jericho to go over here or a no contest, but the feud continues and Fandango eventually comes out on top in the end.

John Pollock
The Fandango character has cooled off since WrestleMania and I think most expected as much. Their match at WrestleMania was fine in that it was by no means horrible nor memorable and that Fandango needs the right opponent and Jericho is probably the best guy to be working with that this stage. The angle on Monday was well done as was the promo by Jericho afterwards and both are going to be motivated to go out and try to steal the show. The result of this match should be very telling because if they remain high on Fandango than obviously he wins the match but I feel Jericho is an incredibly valuable performer and I would not want to trivialize beating him and if they don’t feel Fandango is clicking at a top level than I feel Jericho should win this one.

Randy Orton vs. Big Show

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
I was just about to send my predictions to John to place on the website when I noticed I had not said anything about this match, which just goes to show you how much it has affected me, as in not at all. I say Randy Orton goes over purely on the basis that there seems like a lot of other heel wins on this show, so this one goes to the face.

Jason Agnew
Again... Why? Big Show wins, pushing Orton further towards his heel turn.

John Pollock
These two should have a good match as they typically work very well together. It seems that both are poised to same in the same position regardless of the outcome of this match but I’ll say Orton win this one.

The Miz vs. Cody Rhodes in the YouTube pre-show

Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski
The moustache beats the Miz.

Jason Agnew
Well Miz was referred to as a movie star on Raw and Cody is a mid-carder, thus I suppose (unfortunately) Miz gets the win here.

John Pollock
Should be a quick match with Miz starting the show off with a babyface victory and uses the figure-four.

On Sunday night it will be Dan Lovranski and I co-hosting The LAW and recapping the Extreme Rules event right after it concludes

**The WWE has two live events this weekend before the pay-per-view with a show in Bowling Green, Kentucky tonight and then are in Evansville, Indiana tomorrow night before Extreme Rules in St. Louis on Sunday night. It should be noted at the end of this month the live events will no longer be promoted as Raw and Smackdown shows but all of them will be presented as Raw events.

**USA Today had a story today that the WWE will be donating $1.2 million to the Sports Legacy Institute to further research the effects and treatment for CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy). The Sports Legacy Institute was founded by former WWE performer Christopher Nowinski, who retired due to issues stemming from a concussion he suffered in 2003. The money will be donated over the course of the next three-years with Triple H stating in the story that the company has changed many policies internally including the banning of chair shots to the head and noting that concussions in the company went from 25 in 2011 down to 12 in 2012. The story also notes the recent concussion that Dolph Ziggler received and has been removed from the pay-per-view as a result this Sunday.

**The WWE released seven developmental talents today with the following performers let go:
*Sakamoto – He was called up to the main roster just over a year ago as the second for Tensai. He has been working for a decade and was trained by Taka Michinoku in the Kaientai dojo in Japan and was signed in 2011 and sent to FCW.
*Ryan Nemeth – performed as Briley Pierce and is the younger brother of world champion Dolph Ziggler. Nemeth is 28-years old and getting to an age in developmental where they have to make a decision regarding the guy’s future. He was signed in 2011 after working in OVW and sent to Florida but was riddled with injuries over the past year but has just had his first television match this month.
*Audrey Marie – she has been in the system for two-years at FCW and showed potential at a time when the company needs new women on the main roster. The company did need to make room because of the two women hired for the reality series and likely was a numbers game.
*Derek Bateman – he certainly had the most experience of those released as he has been in the developmental system since 2006 and was a key part of the never ending Redemption season of NXT, where he had a long storyline involving Johnny Curtis and Maxine. At 30-years of age they likely just made a judgment call that he wasn’t going to make the roster.
*Percy Watson – He was signed in 2009 and was part of the season two of NXT where he stood out to a lot of people with the glasses he wore and had a personality.
Thursday's edition of Impact featured a contract signing between Bully Ray and Sting, Hulk Hogan announces who A.J. Styles will face at the PPV & more

Hulk Hogan comes out to kick things off. He is excited about last week’s ending and says that it’s good to have Abyss back on the side of TNA. With that, he calls out Abyss, whose entrance music is played, but nobody comes out. A few minutes go by, and instead of Abyss, out comes Joseph Park. Park says he saw what happened last week as well, and he was equally happy to see his brother back in TNA. Hogan says he’s through playing games and adds that he wants Abyss out here. Aces and 8s music plays, and Hogan and Park are joined in the ring by Devon and D-Lo Brown. Devon says Aces and 8s wants the same thing that Hogan wants. He says since Abyss stuck his nose in club business, he’s got hell to pay. Park gets in Devon’s face and says he’s had it with Aces and 8s. He then challenges Devon to a match right here tonight. Devon says Park is a nobody and he needs to prove himself, before he ever faces Devon. D-Lo then chimes in and says he wants the opportunity to take Park out tonight, so he can earn his way back into the good books of Aces and 8s. Hogan makes the match official and then adds that when Park beats D-Lo tonight, he’s going to be able to get some of Devon whenever he wants.

James Storm is interviewed by the Reaction crew backstage. Jason Hervey asks him how he plans to retaliate for what happened to him last week. Storm looks Hervey in the face and tells him to just watch what happens.

Up next is a video package, features highlights of Christian York’s matches in TNA, as we get set for tonight’s Gut Check semi-final, with the winner of this little tournament getting the final spot in the Bound for Glory Series.

Match #1: Bobby Roode (minus Austin Aries this week) vs. Chavo Guerrero

Christy Hemme actually gets the name right this time, but she announces Roode from Toronto (in all fairness, I doubt that anyone in this company knows where Peterborough is). Nobody is really able to get a decisive advantage in the early going. Chavo uses the top rope to elevate himself and then headscissor Roode out to the floor. Roode gains the advantage on the floor and whips Chavo into the guardrail. Back in the ring, Roode hits a running knee drop for two. He follows up with a neck snap. Chavo comes back with a flying headscissors. He then goes for a tornado DDT, but Roode blocks it. Chavo is able to rebound and delivers a trifecta of vertical suplexes, shades of Uncle Eddie. As Chavo goes upstairs to try the frog splash, he’s knocked off his perch by Roode and crotched on the top rope. At this point, James Storm makes his way down the ramp and into the ring (without being stopped I might add) and he spews some beer into Roode’s face, causing a DQ.

Winner: Bobby Roode by disqualification

Up next, we get a video package to remind us of last week’s opening segment, involving Kurt Angle and AJ Styles.

Kurt Angle then comes to the ring. He says that nobody in the locker room is trustworthy anymore. Angle then informs us that because of what happened last week, Hulk Hogan has granted him a match against AJ Styles at Slammiversary (that ought to get him on your side). Angle says he doesn’t want to wait until Slammiversary and he dares AJ to come out right now. Before AJ has a chance to answer the challenge, Mr. Anderson comes out instead. Anderson implies that AJ Styles has already made up his mind and it’s only a matter of time before he puts on an Aces and 8s vest. Angle says he’s tired of talking and then levels Anderson with a right hand. As Angle continues pounding on Anderson, AJ Styles comes out of the crowd and into the ring. Angle quickly turns around and accuses AJ of trying to attack him from behind. AJ then lets Angle have it with a Pele kick.

Next, we get another video, with highlights of Jay Bradley’s (remember him?) TNA experience thus far.

Match #2: Jay Bradley vs. Christian York in a Gut Check semi-final match

Bradley uses his power to his full advantage with a press slam in the early going. York fights back with a springboard back elbow. Bradley goes for his finisher, which he calls the Boom Stick (what a waste of a name; it’s a basic clothesline), but York avoids it. He then headscissors Bradley into the middle turnbuckle. York follows up with a cannonball in the corner. He tries his move, called the Mood Swing (swinging neckbreaker), but Bradley avoids it. York goes for an aerial attack, but Bradley moves and finally hits his clothesline (I’m not going to call it anything else but what it is) for the win.

Winner: Jay Bradley

After the match, Bradley tells Christy Hemme that he is now one step closer to being TNA World Champion (that’ll put some butts in the seats).

James Storm is interviewed by the Reaction crew again about what just happened in the Bobby Roode match. Storm says that was just retaliation and that there’s more where it came from.

Mr. Anderson is telling the rest of the Aces and 8s members backstage that they’ve got AJ right where they want him. He then turns his attention to D-Lo and asks if he’s going to do what he needs to do tonight. D-Lo says he wants his cut back (oh there’s going to be a cutback alright) and pretty much guarantees victory.

Match #3: Gail Kim vs. Velvet Sky in a non-title match

Before the match even starts, we get this backstage segment, where Mickie James is telling Brooke Hogan that she wants a Knockouts Title match at Slammiversary. Brooke says she feels terrible, because she’s already promised Taryn a match with Gail Kim at the pay per view (God forbid that they have two knockout matches on a pay per view). She tells Mickie that she can have her title match against Velvet next week. Mickie seems okay with that and walks off, at which point Bully Ray corners his wife in the hallway (you’d think they would have gotten this thing annulled by now). Ray tells Brooke to tell her father that when Ray calls out Sting tonight, it won’t be a contract signing, but more of a contract negotiation. Brooke gets pissed and leaves, while Bully Ray has a huge smirk on his face. And then we finally get to the match, which I forgot all about at this point. Velvet delivers some arm drags and then a faceplant bulldog. She then delivers a flying headscissors. Gail fights back by attacking Velvet’s injured knee. She applies a modified Texas Cloverleaf, but Velvet makes it to the rope. Gail then applies what Brock Lesnar used to call the Brock Lock, where she places the back of Velvet’s knee behind Gail’s neck and stretches it out. Velvet finally gets something going and tries for the In Yo Face, but Gail counters and clips the knee again. Gail then goes for a figure-four, but as she turns, Velvet kicks her into the turnbuckle and then schoolgirl’s her for the win.

Winner: Velvet Sky by pinfall

Velvet has little time to celebrate, as Gail attacks her after the match. Gail then shoves Referee ODB out of the way, before applying the figure-four around the ring post.

Up next is a video package, focusing on tonight’s X-Division Title match, with comments from all three participants. Petey Williams kind of seemed like the third wheel here, as the main focus was on the King vs. Sabin feud.

Next, we get another video to promote the return of Suicide next week.

Match #4: Kenny King vs. Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams in a three-way dance for the X-Division Championship

There are no entrances to speak of here; not even for the champion. King immediately slides out to the floor, hoping that the two challengers pick each other apart to lighten his workload. And that exact thing happens, as Williams and Sabin really go to work with some beautiful exchanges. King meets Sabin head-on with a handstand into a front kick. Williams then gets in on the action with a slingshot facebuster to King. King responds with a springboard legdrop for two. Sabin attacks next with a belly-to-back suplex to King and then he bridges into a pinning combination, but only gets two. Williams sends Sabin to the floor and delivers a tope. Back in the ring, he hits a tilt-a-whirl side Russian leg sweep and then an elevated flatliner on King for two. King nearly knocks Williams back to Windsor with a spin kick for two. He then positions Williams for the Royal Flush, but hits a Sheamus-inspired Irish Curse backbreaker instead, which gets him two. There’s a very cool spot where Sabin sets King up in a tree of woe and pretty much Cradle Shocks Williams into him. He then powerbombs Williams and follows up with a flying boot. Before Sabin can complete the sequence, he’s knocked down by King, who then capitalizes on a stunned Williams and hits the Royal Flush for the win.

Winner: Kenny King by pinfall

Bad Influence are backstage. Daniels is sipping his appletini, but he’s paranoid about what James Storm intends to do to them tonight. Kazarian tells Daniels not to worry, because Storm is terrified of Daniels and is equally horrified of Kazarian. He then tells Daniels that he should just concentrate on his match.

D-Lo Brown is with Mr. Anderson backstage and thanks Anderson for saving him from being murdered by Bully Ray last week with the hammer. D-Lo admits that he’s been messing up badly in the last few weeks and he intends to fix it tonight. Anderson tells D-Lo that he’s pulling for him.

Match #5: Christopher Daniels vs. Hernandez

Daniels makes the mistake of trying to overpower Hernandez with a body slam, but Super Mex blocks it and hits a delayed vertical suplex. He then loads Daniels up with a Canadian backbreaker, before dropping to his knees. Hernandez then races across the entrance ramp and flies over the top rope with a shoulderblock to Daniels in the ring. Daniels finally gains the advantage, after interference by Kazarian on the outside (doesn’t Hernandez have a partner too?). Hernandez fights back and goes for a running avalanche, but Kaz moves Daniels out of the way, causing Hernandez to get a face full of turnbuckle. As Daniels goes for Angel’s Wings, he notices James Storm on his way to the ring, so he breaks his own move. With Daniels distracted, Hernandez hits a running shoulderblock for the win.

Winner: Hernandez by pinfall

After the match, James Storm says he’s just spoken to Hulk Hogan, who has signed a Tag Team Title match for Slammiversary. Storm says the match will feature Chavo and Hernandez defending the Tag Team Titles against Bobby Roode and Austin Aries (Bad Influence already start protesting at this point), Christopher Daniels and Kazarian and James Storm, who will have a partner of his choosing in a four-way dance.

Match #6: D-Lo Brown vs. Joseph Park

D-Lo is wearing an Aces and 8s t-shirt for this match, but still does not have his cut (I’m still not entirely sure what that is). D-Lo shows some strength by delivering a body slam to the much larger Park. Park starts to fight back, but D-Lo floors him with a jumping calf kick, followed by a shining wizard. D-Lo then delivers another calf kick. He then starts beating on Park’s head with his taped fist. Park eventually gets busted open after the series of punches. He then snaps and shifts into Abyss-mode. He delivers a running avalanche in the corner and then the blackhole slam for the victory.

Winner: Joseph Park by pinfall

Jeremy Borash is in the ring to host the contract signing for the World Heavyweight Title match between Bully Ray and Sting. Ray is out first and immediately shoves JB down and orders him out of the ring. Ray then brags about taking Jeff Hardy out and defeating Hardy at his own game. He says he’s also the guy who is going to defeat Sting at Slammiversary. Sting then comes out to join Ray in the ring. Before Sting gets his chance to say anything, Ray calls out Hulk Hogan as well, saying that Hogan isn’t going to want to miss this. Hogan accepts the invitation and just watches on from the entranceway. Ray says this is the first time that he and Sting have actually been face-to-face since he screwed both Sting and Hogan over (weren’t these two involved in the same match last week?). Sting takes the microphone and encourages Bully Ray to snap his arm in two, rip his throat out and make him bleed. Ray asks why Sting would ask him to do these things, to which Sting responds that if Ray doesn’t do those things to him, he’s going to do those things to Ray. He says they’re going to fight all over the place, and since Ray is out here, making all these demands, Sting has one of his own, and he suggests that the two of them have a No Holds Barred match in Boston. Ray says he’ll agree to Sting’s stipulation on one condition, which is that Sting will never be able to challenge for the World Title again. As this is going on, Hogan is trying to talk Sting out of doing this, but Ray continues to egg him on. Sting eventually accepts Bully Ray’s challenge. Ray then violently shoves Sting, who fights back with rights and lefts. They brawl to end the show.

Final thoughts:

I actually thought this was a really good episode. The X-Division match was just out of this world, and I’m so happy that a match like that finally got the time that it deserved on this show. Gail Kim actually got a good to great match out of Velvet Sky and I thought Velvet did a pretty decent job of selling the knee. While I am not thrilled that the Knockouts Title match is getting bumped from the pay per view in favour of Taryn Terrell, I do really like this thing with Gail Kim doing the figure-four around the post after every match; I think this could be her ‘Punt to the head,’ so to speak. Daniels and Kazarian were awesome as usual tonight, but I actually thought Kaz outshone Daniels in the backstage segment this week. I’m kind of interested to see who James Storm’s mystery partner will be. If this means a potential AMW reunion, it would be good for a nostalgia pop, but I don’t see anything long term coming out of it. The last time Chris Harris worked in this company, he was ridiculously out of shape, so if he is back, he really needs to up his game; the best thing about a match like this is that Harris could be hidden on the apron for the most part. I was thinking it could also be Jeff Hardy, but that wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense, and I think if that happened, there’d be even less chance that Storm’s team wins the belts, because Hardy has unresolved issues with Aces and 8s, as does Samoa Joe, Magnus and a couple of others. Just looking at the roster, I don’t know if it could be anybody but Chris Harris in that spot; it is Slammiversary after all. The closing segment with Bully Ray and Sting was pretty good as well, but I really don’t think it was necessary for Hogan to be out there. For the last few weeks now, we’ve seen almost the same thing happen between Kurt Angle and AJ Styles, where Angle will call him out and demand some answers, he won’t get any and they’ll brawl. They really need to move that storyline along. The storyline that they do seem to be moving along is the metamorphosis of Joseph Park into Abyss, which I have to say, is about time. There really wasn’t a lot to complain about on this show. I’ll say 7.5 out of 10.

Holly goes into detail about a bunch of stories from the book including his issues with the Kliq in the mid-90’s, his broken forearm in 2000 after taking a moonsault from Kurt Angle, the WCW purchase, the Matt Cappotelli incident, leaving the company in 2009 and tons more.

**The WWE has put together a sound board of Kane reading the most ridiculous lines and it is just as awesome as it sounds so check it out at http://www.wwe.com/inside/wwe-soundboard-kane-makes-everything-terrifying.

**Chris Jericho will be throwing out the first pitch at the St. Louis Cardinals game this Saturday night with The Bella Twins and Mick Foley also do an autograph signing in the city and attending the game that night. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had Foley appear on the pay-per-view Sunday night as a surprise or be at Raw the next night.

**Here is this week’s edition of Fight News Now featuring guests Vitor Belfort, Demetrious Johnson, Martin Kampmann, Mike Pyle and more including John Ramdeen and Robin Black:

**In the latest act of Twitter stupidity, Nate Diaz posted a derogatory comment levied towards Bryan Caraway, who received Pat Healy’s submission of the night bonus following Healy’s positive drug test from UFC 159. Diaz posted the following that almost guarantees a significant fine at minimum:

I feel bad for pat Healy that they took a innocent mans money and I think the guy who took the money is the biggest Fag in the world

**MMA Junkie is reporting that a heavyweight bout between Brandon Vera and Ben Rothwell is set for UFC 164 on August 31st in Milwaukee, Wisconsin signalling a return to the heavyweight division for Vera, who debuted in the UFC as a heavyweight and then cut down to light heavyweight in 2008. Vera has not fought since last August where he was stopped by Mauricio “Shogun” Rua by fourth round TKO while Rothwell was last submitted by Gabriel Gonzaga this past January.

*****
THE MMA REPORT W/ JOHN POLLOCK – May 16th 2013
(Featuring: UFC middleweight Vitor Belfort, Bleacher Report’s Damon Martin, FX 8 picks)
http://datav3.fightnetwork.com/blog/38575.mp3
*****
INTERVIEW – Bob “Hardcore” Holly
(John Pollock chats with Holly for 50-minutes about his new book, his 1994-2009 run with the WWE and tons more)
http://datav3.fightnetwork.com/blog/38553.mp3
*****
REVIEW-A-WAI – The Life and Career of Mick Foley
(John Pollock and Wai Ting review the documentary and a 2011 interview Pollock conducted with Foley)
http://datav3.fightnetwork.com/blog/38522.mp3
*****
REVIEW-A-RAW - May 14th 2013
(John Pollock and Wai Ting review Raw from Tulsa, Game 7 chat and an angry debate)
http://datav3.fightnetwork.com/blog/38492.mp3
*****
THE LAW – May 12th 2013
(Lovranski, Agnew and Pollock chat all the news, take your feedback, Part two with Hardcore Holly and Dave Meltzer stops by)
http://datav3.fightnetwork.com/blog/38473.mp3
*****
REVIEW-AN-IMPACT – May 10th 2013
(John Pollock and Wai Ting review Impact from Tupelo, Nate Milton chats the show, caption contest results, your feedback)
http://datav3.fightnetwork.com/blog/38456.mp3
*****
JAPANESE AUDIO WRESTLING – May 2013
(Chris Charlton and WH Park discuss Kenta Kobashi’s retirement, the health of NOAH, NJPW Dontaku recap and bidets are discussed)
http://datav3.fightnetwork.com/blog/38460.mp3
*****
